National Defense Service Medal - Authorized for the third time in our nation's history by presidential executive order on October 8, 1991, for honorable service as a member of the United States Armed Forces, including the Coast Guard, from August 2, 1990 to November 30, 1995.  Eligible service members include active duty, members of the selected  reserve in good standing, and members of other than the selected reserve who were called to active duty.

Southwest Asia Service Medal - Instituted in 1992 and awarded to members of the United States Armed Forces who participated in, or directly supported, military operations in Southwest ASia or in surrounding areas between August 2, 1990 and November 30, 1995 (Operation Desert Shield, Desert Storm and follow-up). There were three campaign periods designated for the Southwest Asia Service Medal, each being represented by a 3/16th bronze star.  The campaigns are as follows:  The Defense of Saudi Arabia, August 2, 1990 - January 16, 1992; the Liberation and Defense of Kuwait, January 17, 1991 - April 11, 1991; and the Southwest Asia Cease Fire Campaign, April 12, 1991 - November 30, 1995.

Kuwait Liberation Medal (Saudi Arabia) - Established in 1991 by the Government of Saudi Arabia for members of the Coalition Forces who participated in Operation Desert Storm and the liberation of Kuwait.  To be eiligible, U.S. military personnel must have served at least one day in support of operation Desert Storm between January 17 and February 28, 1991 in the Persian Gulf, Red Sea, Gulf of Oman, portions of the Arabian Sea, The Gulf of Aden or the total land areas of Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Bahrain, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates.

Kuwait Liberation Medal (Emirate of Kuwait) - Established in July, 1994 by the Government of Kuwait for members of the United States military who participated in Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm.  To be eligible, U.S. military personnel must have served for one or more days in direct support of Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm between August 2, 1990 and Augsut 31, 1993 in the Arabian Gulf, Red Sea, Gulf of Oman, portions of the Arabian Sea, The Gulf of Aden or the land areas of Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Bahrain, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates.
